Hi, I’m Chelsea - lawyer and life coach extraordinaire!
This is Law School 101: Foundations for Academic Success in Law School
As a law school coach, I have fielded a LOT of questions about how to study in law school – and it has often occurred to me that it would be a lot easier to answer these questions with a comprehensive explainer, something that provides an overview of the core foundations you need to know to study law—It's hard to explain one piece of it, without explaining the whole.
That’s where this course comes in.
The truth is—law school has a reputation for hiding the ball when it comes to teaching you how to study. There’s lots of study advice, and certainly lots of homework. But the entire system can be overwhelming if you don’t know what to look for.
That’s why I created this course.
Together, we’re going to strip law school down to its basics:
- The basics of the U.S. common law system—the sources of law, how precedent works, and what “thinking like a lawyer” really means.
- The core study methods that most students eventually figure out, but that no one officially teaches you. We’ll talk about reading, outlining, and briefing cases, and how to use these skills effectively without drowning in busywork.
This course gives you the foundation you need: the strategy, clarity, and confidence, to take it from there.
It doesn’t go into all of the substantive law like other very expensive law school prep courses might – Honestly, that’s what your courses are for.
Instead, here, you'll learn everything you need to know about the study of law so you can navigate all of your courses with confidence and save yourself months of confusion and stress—for less than the cost of a casebook.
This course is specifically designed for law students seeking a J.D. in the U.S. It’s ideal if you’re just getting started, but can also be helpful if you are a few semesters (or years!) in and still feel totally lost.
By the time you finish this course, you’ll know the essentials, you’ll be grounded in the reality of what law school is (and isn’t), and you’ll be ready to focus and get to work. Plus, you'll get access to the course for one full year, in case there is anything you might want to review, as well as bonus lessons I might add throughout the year.
Most importantly, you’ll know that nobody else has some secret knowledge you don’t—you’ve got everything you need to succeed!
Let’s get started.
